OMAS Italia 90
Italy, 1990. The Omas Italia 90 Special Edition Fountain Pen was designed to commemorate the World Cup Championships held in Italy in 1990. One of the first special edition pens produced by OMAS, limited to collectors, World Cup Officials and players in token of appreciation. The green resin is meant to recall the playing field! It’s a wonderful writer, beautifully responsive nib.
Parker (UK) Duofold
England, 1948-52. This was actually manufactured in Denmark by Christian Olsen for Parker in England; Parker did not have sufficient capacity then. Dark blue lucite. Aluminum button filler.
Parker 51
USA, 1948. MKI, Vacumatic filler, India black, 10k gold-filled blue diamond cap with vertical chasing, B nib. This wonderful pen was a chance find deep in a box at a rural auction in Wisconsin, covered in grunge.
Parker 51
USA, 1947. Mark I Vacumatic filler, cordovan brown, Lustraloy blue diamond cap. This was my late father-in-law’s daily writer through the 1950’s, and my first 51 restoration.
Parker 75
USA, 1970. Cisele, sterling silver, wet medium nib. One of the finest pens made by Parker. Unrestored, to my knowledge. A wonderful wet fine/medium writer.
Parker Duofold
USA, 1931. Streamlined Senior Duofold in black. Beautifully restored by Wesley Mattingly. Typically wonderful Duofold nib. An endearing oddity of this pen is that the date code is stamped upside down…made too soon after lunch, perhaps?
Parker Duofold Jr
USA, late 1930s. A Streamlined Junior Duofold in marbled brown and burgundy. Beautifully restored by Wesley Mattingly. Its nib is firm, although not a roofing nail, a perfect writer for me.
Parker Duofold Junior
USA, late 1930’s. Streamlined Junior Duofold with Challenger Deluxe cap; I call it my “Duollenger”. (no, there are DuoVacs but not Duollengers). The fitting mismatched cap is a testament to Parker’s quality control. Wonderful nib with a hint of a stub.
Parker Duofold Junior
USA 1925-27. I know, I’m a sucker for the Junior Duofolds. They fit my shirt pockets perfectly and write like the big boys. This one is in RHR, in very nice condition. A typical Duofold writer, firm but not too firm, a bit of responsiveness in the nib.
Parker Duovac
USA, 1946. The Duovacs are a wonderful variant on the Vacumatic theme, vertically striped. They’re also more late Duofold than late Vacumatic, in fact Duofold with a Vacumatic filler. This pen is from 1946, with the later plastic filler. The striping colors are beyond my ability to identify them, so the description will stay as “very handsome.”
Parker Vacumatic
USA 1944. Parker Vacumatic in azure with a wet fine nib that has some flex. The azure isn’t easy to see in photos but it’s a beautiful pen.
Parker Victory
England, 1949-52. In dark blue celluloid, button filler, medium nib. Prewar styling recaptured postwar. These are identical, imprint notwithstanding, to many Valentine pens produced in the same Parker factory.
