This NoNonsense is a very pretty example -- cherry red plastic, chrome trim, fine nib. The pen is completely clean, looks unused, comes with an empty cartridge and is ready for use. Its nib, although marked "F Italic", is neither. It is an ink-guzzling hugely broad stub, clearly one of the Sheaffer calligraphy nibs. Enjoy it!

hese are school pens, often used as a young student's first fountain pen. They were sold in "dime stores" on the stationery aisle, stocked in blister packs. Definitely a knockaround pen but also a workhorse.

This is a very attractive and shiny little 1930s Waltham, 3 ½” long and ⅜” wide, in yellow and gold celluloid, a lever-filler with gold-tone trim. The celluloid barrel and cap both end with a budget pen’s integral dome in the celluloid. There is a little cracking in the cap edge, and a little swelling around the lever. Its nib is a Duo Way Tip, and it’s untipped. The nib imprint also says “14k gold plated”, but the plate is gone. The nib writes well, and it’s a fine.

Second generation Skywriter in very clean black plastic and with a chrome cap. The imprint is deep and complete, the chrome unmarked, the Waterman's lever box firm and unbent. The chrome cap is layered over thin brass-appearing metal to give it strength. The nib is wonderfully wet and fine, a fast writer.

This Taperite Crusader is nearly identical to the higher level Taperite Stateleigh in the Bargains listing, differing only in the cap. Stateleigh caps were more closely identified with Parker 51 caps, carrying decent gold plate over an all-black body. The Crusader was a step down in quality, with caps of a thinner gold plate with silver striping. There are a few nicks and pits in the cap, but the body is largely unmarked and very nice. It is a good writer with a firm f/xf nib that flows well. Like its fellow Taperite, getting this pen apart took a week of patient pushing and pulling, but the result was worth the labor. Enjoy it, perhaps use a case to protect its appearance.

This Junior is typical of the model, and in much better condition than most seen these days. It is of typical length and girth, mildly domed at both crown and tassie, with no other adornment. The pen is quite clean, with a couple of small nicks and one longish scratch on the cap, just east of the clip. The nib is the Ideal, but probably plated, and an XF with a bit of shading to fine. It works far better for an underhand writing righthanded writer.

This Deluxe is an early celluloid model, in what Sheaffer called Marine Green. It's full length and girth, at 5.25 and .5", respectively. The nib, which is stamped "Iridium Tipping USA" is a bit misshapen, but it writes a nice wet fine, a good writer.
