About This Pen
This is a dip pen holder with nib. The holder is by John Holland, in mother-of-pearl fit into a gold holder, 5.75″ long. It is intact and smooth, ending in a graceful unbroken point. The gold (there is no hallmark, so it is assumed to be plate) holder is in a simple vertically hatched pattern, and is in wonderfully clean condition. The holder is standard, for any nib. The gold holder’s topmost section is marked Jno. Holland. This pen comes with a nib made by The Cross Pen Co, a progenitor of the Cross company we know for their ubiquitous gold and silver ballpoint pens. The nib is simple, without feed, but is a full flex, writing a needlepoint to double broad line. A lovely example of a long bygone era.
The pen comes in its original case, marked John Holland.
